Kevin Fleming (KF): So here at RapidScale, we have our own hosted cloud offer. We also love AWS, Azure, and now we’re excited to add Google Cloud to our portfolio of solutions. Anne Wheatley, our Google Cloud Alliance Lead, is bullish of what we can accomplish with Google Cloud here at RapidScale. Anne, welcome.
Anne Wheatley (AW): Hi. Thanks for having me.
KF: Okay, big fluffy Cumulus Cloud question here. What is it about Google Cloud that is exciting at the moment?
AW: For me, it’s not only the investment that Google is making in the partnership model, but their exceptional solutions that they bring to bear around data and AI. It’s unparalleled, in my opinion. They’re super hypergrowth mode. They’re making massive investments not only with their tech, but partners like RapidScale. It’s a symbiotic fit for supporting our customers and understanding the best way to scale and grow their business with the best technology available.
KF: Fantastic. Certainly Google, with AI/ML is making a big play. How has Google Cloud differentiated themselves when it comes to AI?
AW: There’s a lot of moving parts and pieces about that, but Google started as a digital-native company. So this has really given them the leading edge when it comes to data. And AI partnered with RapidScale and our architects, engineers, and data scientists, we’re really the perfect answer.
Our partnership investments are massive, and in the near future we’ll have Fast Track IP to not only let our customers sample the technology, but begin their AI solution. And Google already has some of that done with Gemini, Bard, solutions in the Vertex stack, Med LLM, which is the medical language models, which really help the customers stay within the solution that best fits their business, challenges, needs, and requirements.
A lot of that’s already been defined and it’s bleeding edge. So, with our expertise to help you understand and determine what you need and when is the best time to deploy and use it, it really is the best answer for our customers.
But I think one of the coolest things that Google has done today, to answer your question, is the fact that they are now grounding all of their AI models with Google Search. And that is unparalleled. Nobody else can bring that to bear. And for all the hallucinations that everybody talks about, with their AI models grounding with Google Search and that vast amount of data, really helps solve that problem.
KF: And certainly, our engineers have been eager to dive into Google Cloud’s AI and the full stack of solutions at Google Cloud and have been pretty proactive about getting a lot of those certs.
AW: Yeah, It’s, it’s been a massive investment, not only from RapidScale, but even from Google. They’ve been a fantastic partner to us, and they’ve really helped us understand from a professional standpoint where we can lean in exceptionally for our customers.
KF: So Google Cloud, we mentioned their search capabilities, crunching big data sets quickly. They know how to do this. Why is big data a big deal on Google Cloud?
AW: As a customer, siloed data is no one’s friend. Companies are growing today and a lot of them are growing by acquisition. You have 15 million different apps, and you’ve got redundancy and everything else. And explain this to just general people, it’s like walking into your bedroom and you have every piece of clothing scattered across the floor. You’ve got shorts, you’ve got pants, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, jackets. You’ve got everything. It’s everywhere. What goes together?
And basically that’s all of your data. When you use things like BigQuery, GKE, Kubernetes, when you have a a well architected infrastructure, you can scale and grow because you can look at your historical data along with current and relevant intelligence. So, you can take all of that and you can say, you know what? I can make my customer happier because I understand that this is typically what they buy at this time. This is the needs that they’re going to have. This is the product pricing we need to do. This is the time when I need to shore up or I need to scale back from what I’m purchasing and acquiring to scale and grow my business.
Bringing in the engineers and architects from RapidScale and using the solution stack of Google, that’s a hand in glove natural fit and the benefits to the customer are exceptional.
KF: Yeah, data is gold and we can help uncover that gold with our technique. So how, how do you see Google Cloud fitting in with the greater RapidScale solutions portfolio?
AW: It’s no longer an if or when conversation for when our customers are moving to the cloud. It’s how are they moving? Is it a hybrid conversation? An all-in conversation? Having RapidScale help you and help our customers understand the best practices, the when, the how, the infrastructure roadmap, being able to determine when are we deploying things, what’s the least impact to my business to start deploying? What’s the cost-effective way to do this? That’s critical.
And from private cloud to all hyperscalers, we can answer that solution. So here at RapidScale, we know that there are multiple options open to our customers when it comes to moving to the cloud and we can address every one of them from private cloud to all hyperscalers. We’re fully capable of optimizing and managing their environment.
Our Google managed services do come out this fall. It is a new partnership. Once again, that shows the investment that we have to this partnership for our customers.
We will come in and help them understand the most cost-effective, least impactful, least disruptive to their business to really build out that futuristic state. How are they going to manage that cloud experience, optimize that cloud experience and continue to manage that cloud experience. So you don’t have five or 10 test dev environments running in the background, having the ticker and the money roll out the windows because someone forgot to close it down.
KF: Okay, where do you see the cloud being in 2030? Where do you see Google Cloud being in 2030? And how do you see Rapid Scale helping to facilitate that for our customers to hopefully win the day?
AW: So we all have a dream. My dream is in by 2030, I want to have Duane Barnes on stage talking about our customer benefits at Google Next. My end game for 2030 is for us to be up there with customers talking about how we move the needle and support their business challenges with the cutting edge technology of Google Stack and our in-house expertise to really bring home the ROI bring home the best solutions and answers to the business challenges and the world challenges that we have today.
