For RapidScale, this year was especially significant. Our out-of-this-world booth was surrounded by a constant buzz as our "AWStronauts" showcased our enthusiasm for developing the next big thing on AWS alongside our customers.
On the first day of re:Invent 2024, we kicked things off with our breakout session, Disrupt the status quo: How to stop waiting & start innovating on AWS. Our panel of healthcare industry thought leaders shared their expert insights on overcoming security, optimization, AI, and migration challenges to truly innovate. You can watch the entire session here.
We were thrilled to share that RapidScale has achieved the AWS Generative AI Competency, recognizing our expertise in deploying practical, innovative AI solutions that deliver measurable results. This milestone reflects our dedication to helping businesses stay ahead of the curve and benefit from the best tools and strategies available.
Without further ado, here are the top announcements from AWS re:Invent 2024 and how they connect to the work we’re doing at RapidScale.
Trainium2 Servers and Trainium3 AI Chips
AWS revealed Trainium3, its latest AI training chip. Offering 4x the performance of its predecessor, this technology will reduce the time needed to train AI models, helping organizations bring their AI initiatives to fruition faster—a priority for many of our customers.
Project Rainier Supercomputer
AWS’ partnership with Anthropic on Project Rainier signals the dawn of a new era in high-performance AI. This supercomputer, built to be one of the most powerful globally, promises to push the boundaries of AI research and application, especially in fields like healthcare and technology. It will run on the EC2 UltraCluster, built with thousands of Trainium2 chips. For industries handling massive datasets or complex AI models, this capability will open new possibilities.
Nova AI Models
The Nova family of AI models brings versatility to generative AI. From text to video capabilities, Nova models will make it easier for businesses to adopt AI for various use cases. The Nova AI models are now available in Amazon Bedrock. These align closely with our generative AI services, which focus on delivering impactful, easy-to-deploy solutions.
Graviton4 Processors
Graviton4 processors improve performance for cloud applications while keeping costs under control. With 40% better performance for databases and 45% improvements for Java workloads, this advancement is great news for businesses focused on scalability and efficiency. While Graviton4 was announced at last year’s re:Invent, AWS re:Invent 2024 provided more evidence into the power of these processors.
Amazon Q Developer
AWS highlighted that developers often spend less than an hour a day coding due to manual tasks. New enhancements to Amazon Q Developer aim to change that by automating routine activities, freeing up developers to focus on innovation—a productivity boost that will resonate across industries. Amazon Q Developer is said to speed up software development tasks by up to 80%.
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
With quantum computing on the horizon, AWS introduced advancements in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to ensure data security remains robust. AWS will offer PQC as part of their shared responsibility model. This is forward-looking move reflects a shared priority for both AWS and RapidScale, keeping businesses prepared for future challenges.
Model Distillation
Available in Amazon Bedrock, AWS’ new Model Distillation technique simplifies and optimizes AI models, making them smaller and more efficient. This aligns perfectly with the needs of businesses that want to implement AI without incurring prohibitive costs or resource demands.
Bedrock Multi-Agent Collaboration
Bedrock Agents automate complex workflows, reducing the need for manual intervention across systems. AI agents are skilled in solving complex problems, and this new capability from AWS will empower organizations to enhance productivity while focusing on their strategic goals.
SageMaker Lakehouse
AWS introduced SageMaker Lakehouse, a solution aimed at unifying data silos to enable seamless AI/ML use cases. This fully managed offering bridges the gap between data lakes and data warehouses, making it easier to train, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models.
For businesses struggling with scattered data sources and inconsistent formats, SageMaker Lakehouse presents a game-changing opportunity. It integrates with popular AWS tools like Glue, Athena, and Redshift, ensuring that data can be harnessed efficiently without the need for extensive re-engineering.
